Nordic Kayaks NSW is the latest expansion of global brand Nordic Kayaks into Australia, with the appointment of Jacqui and Tony as exclusive distributors for NSW.
Their addition to the team marks a strategic extension of the NK brand's global commitment to delivering unparalleled customer service and uncompromising, premium quality products.
With a steadfast dedication to excellence, the NK NSW team boasts an impressive track record in the industry. With many years experience in importing and distribution, coupled with 10 years of success as former Australian distributors for Epic Kayaks and owners of the renowned Rushcutters Bay Paddle Sports store on Sydney Harbour, Jacqui and Tony are committed contributors to the industry.
Tony, an avid paddler for over two decades, brings a wealth of experience to the table. Together, they have an unwavering commitment to bringing premium quality products and exceptional customer service to the paddlers of this state.
Founded in 2006 in Vaxholm, a coastal town on the Swedish east coast, by Fredrik Lindström and Peter Bringby, Nordic Kayaks emerged from a shared disappointment with the commercially available multisport kayaks of the time. Drawing on their extensive experience in various racing crafts, including Olympic K1s, multisport kayaks, and surfskis, Lindström and Bringby set out to design and hand shape their own kayaks that would push the boundaries of performance.
The initial foray into high-performance surfskis resulted in the innovative Fusion and Rapido models, which were later succeeded by the first iteration of the current range of surfskis, including the Nitro, Storm, Squall, and Exrcize. Today, Nordic Kayaks takes immense pride in offering a comprehensive lineup of cutting-edge surfskis, catering to paddlers of all skill levels and sizes. The goal is to ensure that there is an NK model perfectly suited to meet the paddling needs of every individual.
In January 2019, the team welcomed German elite paddler Gordan Harbrecht into their ranks. This ultimately led to the establishment of Nordic Kayaks Europe, with its headquarters located in Rostock, North Germany, on the shores of the Baltic Sea. This expansion further solidified Nordic Kayaks' commitment to serving the paddling community across Europe.
Frederik Lindstrom
As the founder, Fredrik continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the company's direction and success, bringing his extensive expertise and deep understanding of the paddling world to every aspect of Nordic Kayaks global operations.
With a relentless pursuit of excellence and Fredrik’s unwavering dedication to pushing the boundaries of surfski design and performance, Nordic Kayaks continues to evolve and innovate.
Under Fredrik's visionary leadership, the company has earned a reputation for excellence, reflecting Nordic's commitment to delivering meticulously crafted surfskis by combining cutting-edge technology with the highest standards of manufacturing.
Gordon Harbrecht
After joining the Nordic Kayaks racing team at the end of 2018, Gordon’s background in mechanical engineering gave him a few ideas for modifications and improvements which piqued the interest of Nordic. The end result was that his combination of theoretical knowledge and practical expertise earned him a full-time position at Nordic Kayaks.
In 2019, Gordan had a remarkable year as an athlete paddling the Nitro 640, finishing second in the Mauritius Ocean Classic, second at the NELO Summer Challenge in Portugal, second in the Irish Coast Championships, and seventh at the ICF World Championships. At that time the collaboration between Gordan and Nordic Kayaks continued to grow, leading to his appointment as the Managing Director of Nordic Kayaks GmbH, located in Rostock, Germany.
Gordan is responsible for overseeing European operations. His extensive experience in canoe racing at the highest international level – he was a K4 1000 World Cup Medalist in 2015 – coupled with his Trainer A licence from the German Olympic Sports Confederation, makes him an expert in optimising performance on the water and in everyday life.
